In reply to SeeSaw. seesaw, that is fine, what I am talking about is the U-6 UE Rate, and it is a far more accurate gauge of the employment situation than the bogus, manipulated, gamed U-3 rate. Comprehendo amiga ;)

Black unemployment has shot back up to over 13%. Obamanomics has been a drop kick in the nuts to the black community. See Detroit and Chicago. I hope things get better, I hope Obama proves me wrong. But after 7 trillion$ in deficit ‘stimulus’ spending, blacks are still getting the short end of the stick.

Most people who spent most of their active, working years in the public sector, also worked in the private sector, Rex. We are not space-aliens here–we are all living and working in the same, “real” world. What do you think it would take for the banks and other large corporations to give their current employees full-time work hours and benefits like they used to–maybe those multi-million dollar CEO’s could take a few little cuts here and there?

Most part timers looking for FULL TIME work are left out of the U-3 UE rate, which is why the U-6 is far more accurate, but you had gov workfare jobs your entire life, having never worked in the real world so you would not understand these things Skippy 😉

U-6 includes all people “marginally attached to the labor force,” such as Rex. It also includes those employed part-time for economic reasons, which would describe the retired seniors who make a few extra dollars as WalMart greeters and McDonalds counter help.
