Do you work in refineries? I have worked in Bay Area refineries for 14 years and the majority of the work force is non-union California residents. Turnarounds and large projects are generally the only time that out of state contractors come into the plants and generally speaking, they are contractors that exclusively work turnarounds and are typically far more experienced and trained than daily maintenance contractors.

those companies that are in refineries have other contracts as well that are not in refineries ,they'll loose those contracts because the prices will go up..that means cutting employees...it is better for the employees that are in the refinery but who is going to take care of the others

Most of the non-union workers in the refinery now are outta state wokers so yes the money will stay in state. And no these non-union contractors are not safer or more experienced. This bill is good step in the right direction.

The state regulators openly stated to the unions that they dont care if the energy indsutry closes up shop in California and the high paying union jobs go away due to their money grab carbon tax regulations.

Now they say, you need more high paying union jobs. If Cheveron closed up shop it would wipe out West Contra Costa County. Think about that. Many minorites in West Contra Costa County work in the energy industy.

As you tax the energy industry out of state you lose thousands of super high paying jobs and that will ofset any carbon tax income across the board, local and state. In addtion your carbon tax income will go down becasue these companies can build a plant in Mexico and ship CARB fuel here.

The answer is simple, CLOSE THE REFINERY AND MOVE OUT OF STATE. Grow some stones. In less than 24 hours of this announcement this bill would be SCRAPPED. Then CLOSE AND MOVE ANYWAY out of Spite. Let the State wallow in their filth.
