I can&#039;t help but suspect that somebody on the inside made a ton of loot off this deal. Why? Because it&#039;s as if the obvious unintended consequences that a 10th grader could figure out in advance were totally ignored by Ph.D&#039;s.

So a kid could lose or break a dozen iPads and the school would have to give him another one since he&#039;s entitled to an education and can&#039;t be denied one? 

And LAUSD did not have a policy in place in advance with regard to whom would be held financially responsible in the event of a lost or maliciously destroyed $700 techno device handed out to 10 year old kids?

If there is no policy that means the taxpayers will be held liable. So the omission was intentional.
