The biggest problem was the explosion of Indian gambling casinos in every state that has reservations. 20 years ago, Vegas and Atlantic city were the only game in the country. Now, why drive all the way to Vegas when you can stop in Banning and gamble there, without wasting gas. The same in all the other states that have indian gambling. When the recession hit, people had less disposable income, but still wanted to gamble a little. They still gambled, only they stayed close to home when they could.
My boss, a real estate investor, hurried to Vegas to snap up cheap properties. I told him to hold off, that Vegas would never come back to what it was because of indian gambling. His investments have been stagnant and show no signs of any profits yet, while the rest of America's real estate is looking up a bit.

Governor Sandoval is actively providing incentives for new businesses and is personally recruiting them. All of this to reduce unemployment. Governor Brown is treating businesses like ATM machines and has been relentlessly raising taxes and the cost of energy. We are in the process of moving our manufacturing company to Nevada now because the business climate in California has reached a tipping point. Sandoval is greeting us with open arms and genuine gratitude. For the last two weeks, we have been interviewing and hiring new Nevada employees. This is the difference between the states. One sees businesses as a necessary evil, the other sees business as the key to the well-being of its residents.
