Thank you, John. Good reporting.

In the other blogs on the Calderon scandal I asked the question how the special interest contributions to the politicians via PACS were practically different from the alleged bribes handed to Calderon, other than one being labeled "legal" and the other "illegal". No one responded. But you answered my question. The PAC donations were just much larger. That seems to be the measurable difference here.

I love these names they come up with. "Diversity PACS". How clever! On the Federal side they call them "Leadership PACS". If you didn't watch the 60 minutes segment on the "Leadership PACS" it's well worth 20 minutes of your time. It's available online. The special interest pay into these PACS and the polticians can, by law, use the money for personal enjoyment or to pay their family members with. Even the politician who's been referred to as "The People's Politician" or "Mr. Clean" - Ron Paul - had a host of family members on the salary payroll being paid with these funds. But it was perfectly 'legal' because the lawmakers benefitting from the "Leadership PACS" said it was! How's that for a laugh?
