It has been shown time and again that those choosing their preferred agenda can easily skew facts for their own purposes.
As already stated by another commenter:
Why is this only affecting Condors. With so many other carrion birds in the state and same areas we are not seeing decreases in populations due to "ammunition lead".
It would seem that another underlying agenda is coming into play; if "we cant take their guns away, we will make them pay". If you don't follow, the dramatic increase in the price of ammunition will eliminate a substantial portion of Hunters. Hooray for the California Anti Gun Lobby. Food for thought.

As is typical of many California "laws" that propose to be good for the environment. They were based on poor research and inconclusive results. The evidence shows that the lead that has harmed condors was NOT from ammunition but from other sources.

When you sit down and rationally think about it what are the chances of ammunition related lead causing a problem. Most if not almost all game killed is retrieved by the hunter. If not, then lets see the percentage of lead contaminants that have caused any condor death.

Thriving? It would be hard for the majority of this population to consume lead considering that they are captive birds and not free to search for their own food. Thriving in the wild, I think not.

John,
You are right, facts do count.
I have a question? Why is it that the common turkey vulture is not dying off as a result of this same lead eating frenzy that the Condors are?
I don't suppose you get paid by the state or some environmental organization do you? Where do you get all your 'facts'?
Please enlighten us common folks with your wisdom.

Jose & Katy -- FYI there have been NO condors killed by wind generators, and over 40 killed by lead. This "report" does not provide all of the information from the source document, which includes the fact that the condor population continues to grow ONLY because of captive breeding -- natural recruitment in the wild is much less than condor mortality every year, and the largest single cause of condor mortality is ingested lead ammunition. Facts count.

I suspect that the Wind Generators that line the California hills account for more condor deaths than that of lead. Condors and vultures are not the only bird of prey that look down while flying.
