Btw, our manufacturing jobs went south of the border with NAAFTA.

What did we get in return?

Millions of unskilled, illiterate indigents who bring poverty and blight. Nice tradeoff, huh?

Those are your taxdollars at work.

The best government negotiators that money can buy!!! lol

I read that Ireland used to have a citizen birthright law like we do. That if an illegal foreigner pumped out a little one on Irish soil it automatically became an Irish citizen, of course giving mom and child full access to benefits from the Irish government.

Even though Ireland does not have a huge problem with illegal immigration because: 1) Ireland actually enforces it's immigration laws (what a concept!) and 2) Ireland does not share a border with a poor nation that encourages it's impoverished to illegally cross onto Irish land - illegal immigration was a growing problem with 3rd world foreigners sneaking in from other EU nations and having babies on Irish land.

Smartly recognizing that illegal immigration was placing a growing burden on their citizens - only a couple years ago Ireland eliminated their citizenship birthright law. Tossed it out. Now if an illegal births a child on Irish soil it is not an Irish citizen, nor does it and it's mother have a legal entitlement to Irish public assistance. They have to return to their nation of origin and gain assistance there. Overall the Irish and good and decent and giving people. But the Irish are not stupid.

The illegal alien activists in America would probably call the Irish government 'racist' or, at the very least, 'xenophobic' for doing what was necessary to protect the sovereignty and financial interests of their own country. lol. That's what governments are supposed to do. Protect their own citizens and strive to increase the quality of life for their own people. Nations are not supposed to open themselves up as safety valves for other irresponsible and mismanaged nations that do not have the will to change their own social structure and instead merely offload their problem population on neighboring countries so that they don't have to deal with the very problems that they created.

Three cheers for the Irish!

You need to define "globalists". Don't forget to include the ultra 'globalists' THE DEMOCRATS since that party has been the driving force pushing for amnesty, path to citizenship, legalization, driver's licenses for illegals, "Trust Act" for foreign illegal indigents who broke into our country and stole entire industries from US citizens who were trying to feed their families. Oh, sure. I agree. The corporations are behind it too. No doubt about it. But we rely on our government to enforce our laws and protect our citizens. We're supposed to have a check and balance system in America that punishes criminals. Illegal foreigners taking over entire American industries (ie. construction) didn't happen by accident. The government 'globalists' (ie. DEMOCRATS) turned a blind eye to it all and allowed a silent invasion that has supressed our wages and increased our poverty rates substantially.

Today we have 20 million citizens who can't find a full-time job. And now even the Republicans and so-called "conservtives" are going to betray us. The percent of working aged americans who are actually employed in today's economy is still only at about 58% - the same as it was at it's worst following the 2008 meltdown. The jobs added were only minimum wage and part-time jobs. There are another 1.3 million Americans who will lose their unemployment benefits starting January 1 since Congress did not give the emergency benefits an extension. And since these people will get dropped form the U/E rolls they won't get counted as 'unemployed' in the monthly U/E numbers. The U/E rate is not an accurate description of how many people don't have jobs since it doesn't count all those discouraged workers who have given up looking for work.

The economy has NOT recovered contrary to housing and stock market bubbles driven by debt financing and all the lies reported by the US media. We are only in the eye of the hurricane. Once the gov's QE infusions start to lose their effect and interest rates begin to rise involuntarily Humpty loses his balance and begins to wobble on the wall. Never again could this nation's economy tolerate what used to be NORMAL interest rates @ 6%-8%. They've boxed us into a corner.

Get used to higher consumer prices, flat middle class wages and a nation of rich and poor.

We've already become a food stamp nation with 47 enrollees and growing! It's free - swipe yo EBT! lol

Never tip in service businesses. Do things for yourselves......defeat globalists and demand manufacturing friendly economic policies from slimy politicians.....

Only through higher paying manufacturing jobs will California have sustained economic growth.

lol.

So if allowing in masses of unskilled indigent illegal foreigners making $6-$8/hr stimulates new business activity and is good for the economy - why don't we send cargos ships to all 4 corners of the earth - India, Africa, China, Middle East - and load them full of unskilled indigents and bring them back home? Our economy should soar!!! We could erase our deficit and start running 6% growth in the GDP again without bailouts or QE!!! lol.

What do you think Mexico would look like if we cleaned out our ghettos and barrios and exported our impoverished south of the border - and told President Pena-Nieto to take care of them??? lol. If he was stupid enough to do it - what would Mexico look like??? Would it stimulate their economy??? lol. If importing masses of unskilled indigents is a good thing - why aren't all civilized nation's doing it??? Why do even the liberal western european nations strictly enforce their immigration laws and refuse to provide routine health care or education to illegal foreigners in their countries? If the western euro nations find illegals living in their countries why are they deported forthwith??? Why don't they have a "Trust Act" or "amnesty" and a 'path to citizenship' for those who break into their nations and steal their citizen's jobs??? lol.

Answer that!

The expansion of the Panama Canal will bring trade and transport gains to Gulf of Mexico ports at the expense of West Coast facilities.

The hopelessly obsolete Alameda corridor infrastructure, tired congested freeways, insane dock wages/benefits.....all contribute to an eroding distribution/geographical competitive advantage.

And....most new businesses are to service local consumption from an endless in migration of low skill labor and their prolific family/birth increases......while manufacturing jobs decline.....decline...de.....

Water and electricity rates soar. Kooks call for partitioning the state into six self interest economic petri dishes. SF values and Sacramento corruption/nepotism make many hapless concerning the State's future.

What else Collapso?

I just read that Obama didn't go to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. lol. I guess in his final term of office he feels that he doesn't even have to pretend anymore. lol. I and many others suspected this all along.

I sure hope I live to see the day when some insider at Occidental College, Columbia or Harvard sneaks a copy of his transcripts to an honest journalist. It would be very interesting to learn the reason why such a brilliant legal scholar would want to hide his college records from those who elected him to the highest office in the land. lol. Heck, even George Bush who graduated by the skin of his teeth with a C average and released his! lol. There's a lot of layers here to this Obama onion that haven't been peeled back for sure. But then look how many years it took for us to learn the truth about JFK. So I won't hold my breath on this one. I'll likely be a goner forty years on before the Obama files get exposed.

billy, russians that have settled here in the last 30 years are fascinated with what they see. Big government that rewards crooked corporations that brought down the world's economy with trillions in taxpayer bailouts and QE. Police abuse everywhere that goes unpunished. NSA that gathers huge amounts of private phone and email data without consent or warrants. A former civil rights attorney becomes the Potus and supports laws like NDAA and The Patriot Act that got passed in the midnight hour. The same Potus awarded a Nobel Peace Prize launches a massive military attack on Libya opening the way for an assassination of a sitting President. Then pushing hard for a replay in Syria. lol. Government officials lying to pass a health care law that upends a system that accounts for 20% of our economy. lol. And on and on and on......

The russian immigrants look at all this with big Bette Davis eyes....lol. Go talk to a few. lol.
