I read in the Times that at one point 75% of the Los Angeles County firefighters were granted medical disability at retirement!!! lol.

Let’s be conservative and assume that the AVERAGE pension is $130,000.

20,000 X $130,000 = $2.6 BILLION

No. On their original date of hire the public employees received a lower pension formula. Then the unions pushed the pols to raise the formulas substantially and make them RETROACTIVE after some of those employees had worked under the original lower formulas for DECADES so the NEW MUCH HIGHER formula was applied back to their first day of employment!!! lol.

I did further research.

To give you an idea of how out-of-control the California public pension system is:

In 2005 CalPers had about 1800 retirees collecting pensions of $100,000 or more.

In 2009 it increased to about 6,100

By the end of 2012 that number rose to about 14,700.

A 700% increase in less than a decade.

Then tack on another 6,600 CalSTRS retired teachers collecting pension of $100,000 or more in 2012.

So in 2012 more than 20,000 retired Calfornia public workers were in the $100,000 pension club!

Tossing the youngsters who will have to pay for it all under the bus!!!

I have never witnessed or even read about generational greed at this level.
