And with regards to the surveillance state, Salon never fails to whine that government spending is being cut, even when it isn’t; and yet, here is something that could be profitably dropped tomorrow with no negative repercussions. In this light, Keynesianism is a sort of anaesthetic applied just before amputation — of rights, of property, and ultimately, of humanity.
