Chris, the same people that embrace subsidized housing are the same types that have embraced global warming, both are a farce and both have zealots pushing their crazy agendas in order to steal wealth from the private sector. By the way, global warming is on hold in 2/3rds of the nation due to freezing! 🙂

Look it. San Diego is a border town saturated with illegal migrants. I just can’t understand the libertarians for the life of me. On the one hand they want legalization and comprehensive immigration reform for the indigent lawbreakers who break into the country and steal jobs. On the other hand they complain when the local politicians steal money from the business interests to build more housing for the poor.

You have to pick a side and stick with it. Poverty costs money in America. One way or the other you have to pay for it. You have 2 choices: 1) Fight to keep the poverty out or 2) Accept the poverty and the pay the higher fees and taxes that go along with it.

Stop riding the fence. You can’t have it both ways.

I lived in SD a lot longer than 8 years, and based on my limited dealings with city government and my exposure to some of the players, I am not ashamed to say that I have a total mancrush on Jerry Sanders. There it is, out of the closet. Aside from being a genuinely nice guy who really does give a damn (rare enough among SD pols) he is a gifted manager/administrator and ‘clutch artist’ a la the Chicago Cubs…

As far as the housing fiasco, the trend now among SD council and legislative types is to prove their statewide chops by being as radical as anyone in the Bay area. The unspoken dialectic is about struggle and justice. If $31 million yields 96 beds, so what? That is a success. Money is simply a tool of oppression… The academic left’s love affair with maoism is very carefully being IV dripped into the body politic, and Mao at heart was a stalinist himself.
