Grade separate all vehicle and pedestrian crossings.
Stop squandering HSR funds on Caltrain "bookend".
Truncate initial HSR to the Bay Area at San Jose.
Later upgrade East Bay (Mulford) Amtrak route to Sacramento.
Include intermodal transfer at BART overhead in Oakland.

With all due respect, this project is a ridiculous nightmare. This was agreed to by the public with the condition that this project was never to be subsidized by the taxpayers. This project is economically unfeasible. There is no private capital for this project as it makes no economic sense. Why would anyone ride slow speed rail to Southern California for a higher cost than an hourly airplane flight? This will never work without a public subsidy. If attempted, this albatross will be an anchor around the neck of California as long as it is allowed to operate.
