Really now- arent the colors red and blue mixed together purple? So really we only have different hues of purple- not much distinction. I mean as we go forward isnt it dems who want us to go into full banruptcy at a slighty faster rate than republicans? So really red vs. blue is really more Light purple vs. dark purple.

Ah, the Reagan landslide was 1984 – definitely NOT 1980.

My late professor of political thought at the University of Minnesota ALWAYS wore a red tie. Why? because he was a pacifist (Quaker)-Marxist, and red, he taught, has been associated with the worker and proletariate causes ever since the Spartacist revolt in Ancient Roman times.

I believe the connection is unproved, but so long established and believed, that YES – let Pubbies be the (True) Blue Coats everywhere.

In reply to Steve Mehlman. The two major parties go in ebbs and flows Steve, there was a time period when we had so many years of Repug in the gov's office it made me sick (I was a Dem back then). Bottom line, both parties including YOURS are bought and paid for with $pecial interest money. Big Business and Public Unions. No one else benefits- very badddddd for ANYONE else.

Reagan’s First Commandment was “thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow republican.” Nowadays California democrats consistently demonstrate better cohesion and mutual support than do republicans. Reagan himself was no angel, especially in his early days as a Hollywood witch hunter, but he was an archetype of a certain kind of California republican that had earned his stripes, was essentially a social moderate, good government, business savvy, non-idealogue..Think Pete Wilson, Jerry Sanders… (NOT Arnold)…Reagan would have scoffed at a corporate operative like Cashcarry parachuting into California gubernatorial politics..
