Can some one explain to me why opponents of California High Speed Rail can ignore the requirements of Proposition 1A when it suits them – the “blended system” that maintains the existing two track configuration along the San Francisco peninsula – and then invoke Prop. 1A arguing that it can’t meet the 2 hour and 40 minutes travel time between LA and SF? Selective application of Prop. 1A is either OK or it’s not. You can’t have it both ways.

Apparently Brown has not hear of these newfangled things called jets that go from LA to San Fran in lass that an hour & are far more flexible than a train. The Browndoggle is an expensive, unnecessary, environmentally destructive joke.

The real tragedy is that peak oil is very very real. Anyone notice that even with the so called tracking revolution oil is still north of $100/barrel? And that the fracked wells play out very quickly?

The best gift California could give to its future self, say 10-30 years in the future, would be a cheap reliable form of rail transportation.

Like India or the Trans-siberian rail. Three classes of passenger seating plus freight.

Even have it run on biomass steam……

Rail for the masses, cause the cost of petroleum based fuels is only going up.
