It doesn't look as if the tax cuts are working maybe because they enacted them too little, too late, inclined to view the latter, but with regular income still taxed at near U.S. rates above 30% and still having to pay fica taxes,it may not be such a great deal except for the rich, by rich I am referring to "specific types of wealthy folks who know how to use the system", Reagen made capital gains taxes equal to regular income, maybe cap gains should be a little less, but I am not sure the specifics of puerto rico.

In addition to waste and mismanagement, crime, debt, etc, a small percentage may not result in mass movement and Congress can alter the law. I am curious as to why other U.S. territories have not moved in that direction. I agree we shouldn't as Americans have to ask why successful folks have to give up their passport or move to a small island as our only option.

Folks are free to chime in

But Prop 30 taxes are only "temporary"...like the tolls on the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges were only "temporary" in 1936 and 1937....

Great site.

My family finally fled California last year after Obama's reelection and the news of more state and Federal tax hikes than I can keep track of.

As a 5th generation Californian, this was not an easy decision to take. My great-great-great grandfather came from New England ito California in 1847 was delegate to the California Constitutional Convention and an early millionaire businessman, mayor and landowner (40,000 acres in Los Angeles). Another relative was the 5th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California and a Trustee/Director of Stanford University.

I am very sorry that California has been misgoverned by the Pelosis and Feinsteins of the world to the point where businessmen like myself are willing to close down a company employing over 60 people and flee, but California no longer resembles the place I grew up in and it appears that things will only get worse.

I'm looking at incorporating and establishing residence in Puerto Rico which appears to be the only place Americans can still enjoy many of the freedoms their ancestors once enjoyed without relinquishing the Passport, but that option is on the table as well.

What kind of morons insist on raising taxes on employers 7 years into a recession (thereby increasing unemployment)?

What kind of "President" tells business owners "you didn't build that, someone else did that for you"?

Voting with our feet may be the last great freedom Americans still have.
