At the street-level political theatre this means that voters have been conditioned to NOT think at all about issues, but merely to react to their feelings about a candidate who has the same skin tone or the same genitalia.

E.g., “she’s a woman, I’m a woman, I will vote for her” or “he’s black, I’m black, I will vote for him.”

Well, now it seems this ’70’s love child is all grown up and it is quite a beast.

As a tool for social control, however, identity politics is very effective, as it is a complete ‘divide and conquer’ strategy. An atomized society is a weak society, ready for the loving ministrations of the social engineers….
