There's no good reason to approve this stupid high-speed train, as these things are not working at all even in Europe, where cities are farther apart. Unlike Europe, California is a state of large number of cities separated by miles of space. Small air-traffic is the ideal way to tie these cities together, not some crazy train that cost a fortune, both to build, and to fund the subsidies of tickets (Amtrak-like).

It is unfathomable that any court hearing this case can skirt the fundamental issue of compliance with the specific stipulations contained in the voter-approved bond issue. This case is begging for yet another appeal to a higher court. If federal money is involved, would not the U.S. Supreme Court be the court of last resort?

The fact they allowed this case to proceed outside of the normal civil procedure process is a huge red flag.

Remember Amtrak Bourbonnais 1999, like Caltrain on 79 mph track. Don't squander more HSR money on Caltrain. Truncate HSR to the Bay Area for now at San Jose, with transfers there to Caltrain, Capitol Corridor, the planned SV BART line to Santa Clara, and VTA light rail. -----

Later upgrade the UP/Amtrak Mulford route to Oakland, with a transfer station at the BART crossing 6 minutes from San Francisco's Embarcadero station (with trains every 4 minutes.) Further extension to Sacramento would be a piece of cake, with no costly trans-Bay tube.-----

HSR can be better, safer, more reliable, and less costly, done this way.
