They call it “Transit-Oriented Development” – TOD for short.—

Patron parking in suburban areas is the real TOD. A given area – surface or structure – can hold many more parked automobiles than dwelling units. One can drive much further than walk between home and station. The potential number of dwelling units varies roughly as the square of that distance.—

The “Residential TOD” concept fails the test of common sense. It had best vanish from the planners’ lexicon.
