Purchasers of Tesla products receive huge federal and state income tax credits, and 100% electric automobiles do not purchase gasoline for fuel, so their owners avoid paying federal and state road excise taxes, presently amounting to about $0.57 per gallon, nor do they pay California state sales taxes of about $0.25 per gallon. Thus, electric auto owners escape about $0.05 per mile (about $750/year @ 15,000 miles) in road maintenance taxes. Plus, pouring salt on the wound for the rest of us, all electric auto owners receive special use rights on commuter lanes for their environmental holiness! Enough already!
