When I was in school decades ago at the height of the civil rights movement minority public schools got the best of everything. The best gyms, the best learning labs, the best books, free tutoring, even the best teachers. The teachers had to be a cut above to work at the minority schools and got extra pay for doing so. The atmosphere was anything but 'barren'. Opportunity was abundant. Now San Diego might be different. I don't know. I am only relating my own personal experience.

I have found that values and culture have a tremendous impact on a child's motivation to learn. In fact, you so you notice how the asian student population peforms? 40-45% of the UC system is asian while asians account for about 13%(?) of California's population? Why? That should be obvious to most. Education is a top priority in the asian community. The parents really push their kids to learn, whether they are rich or poor.

No matter how much money is thrown at the K-12 school system unless you change the values and culture you are running into a 90 mph headwind. But if you bring it up you're labeled 'insensitive' or 'mean-spirited' or worse.

Political correctness is literally destroying the country.

32 students. All minorities.....very few parents' invovlement. No teacher aides.....no volunteers......a barren enviornment.....

She spends time introducing students to the opportunities in life.....their life experiences are that of low/ no expectations.

All forgotten....no one cares!

Torlakson's primary loyalty and allegience is to the ruling class that ensures his occupancy in a position of power. The children are an expendible by-product of the educational system and subject to sacrifice to appease those established members of the oligarchy. If a choice must be made whether to keep the ruling class happy or to save the children - Torlakson will idiomatically leave the children twisting in the wind, first time, everytime.

Marshal Tuck looks like a young fella. An idealist with a moral code. He'll learn how to play the game as he matures. Most do. Dawwin deals with the rest. Darwin is neither moral or amoral. His gig is adaptation.

Hell, even the big name rock stars who sang war protest songs in the 60's/70's fell into the fold and fawn over today's war criminals.

Life has a way of doing that.
