In reply to John Seiler. I remember Reagan's first term and the introduction (?) of a supply-side mantra in his Administration. It was very new to most of us (Reagan, too), and we questioned every piece of legislation in support. We did pay a lower tax rate, but didn't really appreciate what it would do to overall consumption, both corporate and personal. Kinda like lower oil prices resulting in lower pump prices and increased purchasing power for the consumer...a tax cut?

Only trickle down I ever got was the GI bill and Rockefeller or Goldwater had nothing to with these drippings!

In an “instant gratification” world, we look for rapid fulfillment in every thing we do. Investing in a supply-side mantra, an ideology that takes more than a couple presidential administrations to bear fruit, reaps very little in the way of rewards for Republicans or like-minded Democrats. Nevertheless, one of the first acts of a new president (Republican?) would be to reduce corporate taxes to a more competitive rate…let’s say 25%. Inclusive in this supply-side tax cut would be a further corporate tax cut (one time, only) to repatriate the trillions of dollars parked overseas…let’s say 10%. CEOs who take advantage of this (and many would) is a requirement to use a portion of these dollars to retrain and hire for expansion. Send a strong message that we are in this to “build stuff” again. The immediacy of this legislation would satisfy those who need gratification NOW.
