No need to make much of it really . Its just the new Senate leader Kevin DeLeon cleaning house to make room for his own people.
You may remember this guy as the preening cockroach who gave himself an 50K inaugural ball to celebrate his coronation as Senate leader and Emperor of Alta California.
Cali is awash with cash so he will soon be bringing in PRI and Mexican Mafia members to quietly replace all the laid off staff. No one will notice anyway.
Dan Walters had a good article about it this week. It appears most of the layoffs will be from the Senate bill analysis group who were apparently too straightforward and evenhanded in giving their analysis of bills. If a Senate bill was deemed to be harmful to the state or its economy it would say so publicly which is totally embarrassing. Best ot keep this kind of info under wraps from the people even if they are all stupid as Gruber said.

Unfortunately, they laid off 4% of the staff, not 4% the senate. In any event, I agree laying off 96% of the senate would be a step in the right direction.
