I just wish in these cases, they could publicly release all records on an employee after being sued. Hell, I wish that all courtroom transcriptions were freely available on the web too.

All employees should be unionized, that is proven science. Bring on a wealth tax on all assets. Power to the people. All banks should be managed by public safety unions for fairness. Down with corporations. Yes to unions, no to capitalism.

More proof the private sector needs to unionize!! If Autozone employees were in a union then the company would have second thoughts about how they treat their employees. Just by having a unionized workforce present, corporations would know they can’t get away hostile work environments, low safety standards, raping the workers of their benefits,etc,etc. We would have less of these lawsuits to, but I’m glad there is a way to sue these bastards! I bet these greedy corporations would love to have child labor sweatshops!!!

The punitive damages won’t be “thrown out” on appeal. Following the guidelines established by the Supreme Court, they’ll be reduced to something on the order of $10 or $15 million. That’s still enough to get the attention of AutoZone about their discriminatory employment practices and, since it’s a federal court verdict, it has nothing to do with the business climate of California.

Large jury awards may not change anyone’s attitude, but they certainly serve to change business behavior. Alternatively, business like AutoZone could just follow our non-discrimination laws and avoid lawsuits like this one entirely.
