Indian gaming might have been a blessing 15 years ago, but it has become a very heavy curse on the tribal communities and the casino patrons. This is because of greed. Gaming parasitizes those who are unable to turn away from the cheesy tricks that make them flush what little discretionary cash they might have down a black hole. Blinking lights, repetitive sounds, ‘winnings’ that are timed by computer, booze, meth, you name it, gamblers really are zombies and I pity them.

Tribal communities have also been ripped to shreds by gaming, with one political faction taking control and disenrolling (kicking out) a large portion of the community, with the sole incentive of getting bigger checks for the survivors. Ugly. Only one or two tribal communities come to mind that have had the discipline to use gaming constructively as an initial boost to the tribal economy, followed by sensible diversification into non-gaming business assets.

Check out the demographics of hapless casino patrons, the run of the mill food services and general seedy din of these temptation pits!
