Walmart and other retailers should pay, or be be forced to pay, a premium for lower paid retail employees forced to work on a major holiday. The old contracts for Safeway, Vons, Food Basket (Lucky), Ralph’s they ALL paid OT on holidays….used to, not anymore. Paying OT (not double time) to a minimum wage retail employee is not going to hurt Walmart or any other major retailer at all. They make a windfall if they are open on a major holiday.
