Yes there is fat and waste in education institutions, but we really do squeeze enough high performers to put their fingers in the dike!

The real problem out there is a tidal wave of poverty lapping over the dikes that will collapse California civilization.

The California Public Education system is being used to redistribute wealth. The States new Education funding law- by design, intentionally underfunds education so that excess revenue can then be used to create new programs that benefit ONLY the poor and English Language Learners. The UC System is fortunate to have the ability to raise tuition so that they can continue to offer any student services. Unfortunately students in K- 12 are simply being deprived of the education they are entitled to under the Constitution unless they can fundraise for basic student services.
