In reply to vonborks. On a more serious note: We have 2500 acres in Central California, for over a half century it has been managed as a deer and wild boar hunting ranch. The kit fox was common and always a treat to see and watch, our guides protected them form "city hunters".. It has been years since we last saw one and in our opinion the coyote, now the top predator in our area, is responsible for their decline. In the past coyotes prime food source was young goats, sheep and cotton tail rabbits. Not many sheep or goat herds around anymore and fewer cottontails, but many more coyotes adapting to circumstances feeding on whatever is available including pet cats and small dogs. The future of the kit fox in California, even without the train, is in doubt.

Notwithstanding the interesting legal challenge offered by the endangered kit fox, recent research in February 2013 by PWC (www.autofacts.com) indicates a near-term and massive technological breakthrough in autonomous self driving personal transportation is likely to occur well before this new railroad is operating. Market changes due to this technology advancement will likely erase any residual demand for this massive and rigid 19th century public works boondoggle. Sorry U-U. The kit fox’s range is across the entire width of the SJ valley. You would need to re-route the Brown Streak up into the mountains to avoid their habitat.
The train MUST be stopped so the tiny kit fox can live!!

Anyone who supports the train is treading on Murder, 1st degree, if the little guy is killed during construction, or God forbid, the dreaded train. Then, everyone riding would be charged as accessory to murder. Kill the train. Look at the fox. Can t you see that audacity of hope expression? “If the illegals can have driver’s licenses, why can t I keep my land. I was here longer, and I have never looked for a handout. I like baseball, too.”
