Without a doubt, there are teachers, administration and districts that are not being held accountable for the minutes they write down in the plan book. And in my daughters elementary school, the kids walk/run for the required minutes. Where is the education in those PHysical education minutes? All it teaches the students is that exercise/PE is boring. Elementary schools should have a PE specialists teaching all 200 minutes for the students best opportunity at a good education and a lifetime of health. Specialists are trained to teach specific skill development and progression, create and implement standard based enjoyable lessons and activities. I know all of this because I am an Elementary PE Specialist.
