This would not have been entertained by American citizens of either party even twenty years ago, but the police have always dreamed of listening in on anyone that disagrees with their way of doing things. Do anyone really believe that a low IQ chump wearing a costume will have the intelligence to glean anything from phone conservations? You can barely keep their attention off the porn on their computer screens, except when it comes to contract negotiations! 🙂

Obviously it’s problematic to give local jackboots the unregulated ability to track our movements without due process or judicial review. If you think they can be trusted with this technology then you are a compete fool.

Then there is the associated issue of Federal enabling of police surveillance via DHS grants. Once again the Feds are encouraging the growth of a pervasive police state and habituating local cops to Federal funding. This can only make them more dependent on The District of Criminals and less responsive to the citizens they are in theory supposed to “serve and protect”.

The sad reality is that the leadership of both parties support this kind of totalitarian policing and most of the sheeple are blithely ignorant or appallingly complacent about the loss of their privacy. Regarding the “bipartisan” legislation mentioned in the article, I think we can assume that Cry Baby Boehner & Mumbles McConnell will make sure it never gets a floor vote and dies a slow and quiet death.

Neither Repulsivecans nor DemocRats respect our Natural Rights. They work for the oligarchs, lobbyists, powerful special interests and their own aggrandizement. Voting is worse than a waste of time because it perpetuates the false notion that we the people run the country. It simply isn’t so.

I choose FREEDOM than a police state. Remember, throughout human history there is always a group of people that wants to control the other and will kill to control them. It still happens today around the world.

Today, our PUBLIC SERVANTS want to control US. They will use the tactic but we will use this or that for the “bad people only”. Who are the “bad people” anyone they the public servants define as “bad people”.

I am a veteran police officer and do not subscribe to the new LAW ENFORCEMENT thinking but believe in PEACE OFFICER in keeping the PEACE.

I have seen too many patrol supervisors, commanders and so on abuse the law and or intimidate police officers to bend or break the law (rights of people) under the threat of getting fired.

SAY NO TO A POLICE STATE!

I’m a fan of Sheriff Smith, but, I say, no f___ing way! The risk of abuse (lotsa evidence for that – IRS anyone?) outweigh by far, any usefulness.
