This tendency to overpay CA state and local public employees extends far beyond our prison guards. For instance, the average California police officer or fire fighter makes over 55% more than police and paid ff’s average in the other 49 states. And that’s not counting our uber-lucrative pensions.

It’s the single biggest reason we are such a high tax state, and face such monstrous future deficits.
