Clearly, parents play an important role in guiding their children’s choices and by modeling healthy habits. Education will continue to advance health behavior change, so too will collaboration. Our industry is doing its part in this regard. We voluntarily instituted national School Beverage Guidelines – effectively cutting the number of beverage calories shipped to schools by 90 percent. Our member companies have also launched the Balance Calories Initiative to encourage a sensible diet and active life, including advocating drinking water and reducing overall beverage calorie intake by choosing low- and no-calorie options. We believe continued momentum on this front will be accelerated when everyone comes together in a concerted way – government, academia, healthcare and businesses like ours.

More nanny state garbage. I’m completely capable of selecting a drink for my child. They seem to want to ignore the tasks that we-the-people hired them to do, abut insist on taking action on things that are none of their business.
