You are right of course, but if you haven't noticed SF has generally gone to real estate and leadership seed as of late. You don't expect reason to affect the hordes of city new-bees stretching all parameters to throw their new found riches away, do you? The next bust will make the last bust seem trifling. Then we'll start a new cycle. Working class people have nothing to do with any of this anymore. It's a free for all among the new temporary, with exceptions, elite at this point. There is no reason attached. All the old rules are vapor. It matters little what city hall does, they are buried in compounded civic mistakes from which they can no longer extricate themselves using reason.

The government cannot claim to be a democracy with free markets when it is interfering with private property rights, at least to this extent. Supply and demand determines market rate, not the government, unless you're in North Korea or China. If people are priced out of SF or any other area then they MUST move to what they can afford. Me, I want to live in Manhattan, or Bel Air, problem is I cannot afford to live there and NO ONE owes it to me to live there.
