While this is a ridiculous ballot measure, it doesn’t surprise me to see it in California, the land of ridiculous ballot measures. That being said, water is critical, HSR is a massive waste of taxpayer money that has no viable economic model.

So is someone going to tell the public that we already just passed a couple of bonds/props in the last couple of years for this? It sure would be nice if Moonbeam used his appropriations appropriately. 7.1 Billion just last year and now we need another ballot initiative to wrench more money from the public? How bout we use Jerrys oil money to pay for it?

Doh! Johnson knows exactly how the state views water flooding his rice paddies to decompose straw because he also knows that’s not its only purpose. Among the reasons they flood the fields is to clean them up from the prior year’s crop, provide habitat for many waterfowl and other shore birds, foster anaerobic decomposition that kills many soil pathogens that trouble rice crops, percolate water into the soil and aquifer, facilitate proper cultural conditions for planting, and to irrigate their crop’s early growth. Those are all within prior court-case definitions of “irrigation use.” Don’t be a dummy.
