New home construction is going up at lightspeed, large retail, commercial, etc.

CA home building is up, but it is FAR below what is needed for population growth. And worse, we are in yet ANOTHER residential real estate bubble, for the exact same reason for the last one, deficient underwriting and little to no down payment (3% or less) for the borrower. When this bubble blows we are history, as we have been in ZIRP with interest rates at 0% for the last 8 years (at least for Big Banks, for poor and middle class it is still 28%+

DROUGHT! Can somebody explain how the developers continue to build on every piece of open so cal land available. New home construction is going up at lightspeed, large retail, commercial, etc. I guess money from the big fat greedy pig developers overrides our need for water conservation. So really, there must be no drought....

Exactly! Natural records show 100 yrs droughts in the past. More storage is the only real answer to avoid a real disaster with our vastly increased population. It should be a no-brainer. Ahhh, but then there are the enviro-whacko's.

SoCal has the 2 natural resources needed for abundant, umlimited fresh water: the ocean and sunlight. But wait, here come the environmentalists with their lawyers, stop everything and litigate for 25 years! We simply can't use zero carbon-emission sunlight to desalinate seawater if even a SINGLE larval fish MIGHT be harmed....Eat DUST California, and don't even think of emigrating! The weather up here in the pacific northwest is SOOOO cold and wet, and we never see the sun for months......

Just highlights why we need more storage in this state. We have to be able to capture more of what does fall, both north and south. Heck, they were dumping 20k gallons a second OUT of Shasta in order to keep it from over filling...makes no sense if we have more places to put the water.
