Unfortunately - 92% of our districts budget goes to employees- nothing is making it to the kids. It is time to make the Unions fund the pensions and salary increases they negotiated illegally. I have done a lot of work on my District and I can prove that the last five years of our contracts were not negotiated in good faith, nor did they comply with State and Federal laws. The bigger problem is that the State uses our Public education system too raise revenue - but then the money never goes to anything except Salaries, pensions and benefits. If you are interested and would like to see the State wide plan to it is at this link: See: Collaboration Collusion Conspiracy at this link- short read http://peopleforstudentrights.com/index.php/complaint/count-12

Not that I am for the Brown-doggle Train, but Education Funding is a bottomless pit in this state. 40% of our tax dollars goes to education and it is still not enough.

Well, this is cheering news indeed. Now stupid government policy is offending segments of society that often cross paths. There are plenty of minorities and low-income people who are involved in equestrian clubs, folks--you see them in parades. And public education has a pretty formidable lobby--not good to make them mad at you.
Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel after all (not to be punny).

At this point, any "up or down" vote for HSR would put an end to this madness. Not only the electorate would soundly reject further spending on HSR (by better than a 2-1 margin, according to polls), but it almost surely would be voted down even in the strongly Democrat-controlled two state legislative houses.

I confidently predict the CA HSR system will never be completed, but I cannot predict how much money we first will flush away before finally saying "enough!" Like the decapitated chicken, HSR is still stumbling forward.

If you want to stop the Bullet Train simply enforce the California Constitution which requires that before money can be spent on anything else, the State of California must FIRST fund public education.

Look at the State's 5- year Infrastructure plan. Not a single dime for K-12 public education. But the $55 billion dollar budget contains $51 billion dollars for "Transportation".

Ask the courts to freeze that $51 billion until the budget contains facilities funding for K-12 public education. Then there will be no funding for that stupid train and local Cities and counties won't be forced to place facilities bonds on this upcoming ballot.

Every school district in the State is trying to float a facilities bond because the State's new education funding formula provides funding at 2007-08 levels plus inflation not to be reached until 2021. Jerry Brown is stealing money from Public education to Fund his train.
