The California GOP leadership is clueless. When newly-elected Governor Jerry Brown took on Redevelopment in 2011, he was on the side of taxpayers, small businesses and small property-owners who had been getting the shaft from the state's taxpayer-funded Corporate Welfare-Eminent Domain Abuse machine for years. It was a real David and Goliath struggle, with property-rights and small government advocates on one side, and powerfully-connected barons of the building industry and their city hall-cronies on the other. Whose side did the Republicans take? The crony-capitalists. And, ever since then GOP leaders have been abandoning the people to developers and real estate investors in the name of the almighty god Prosperity. Except, funny thing, this deity doesn't have a very good track record. There are no statesmen in the California GOP line-up, either.
