In reply to gen. In most states, between tobacco taxes and the fees for the tobacco settlement, the government gets 3x more money from the sale of a pack of cigarettes than the tobacco companies do. It's no wonder the state won't spend much of that revenue on smoking prevention or cessation programs.

All that verbiage, looking at the initiative from all sorts of angles, and somehow you can’t spare a single word about the $300 Million Tobacco is spending to make the same spurious arguments you talk about??

What are you afraid of? Their names are Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds. Not hard to find the records and articles about their MASSIVE attempt to defeat this bill. Why so shy?

If you want people to stop smoking, make it a criminal offense so we can put it on the ballot in a few election cycles to legalize so you can regulate it and tax it.
