When I first heard about Trump's Tax Cut, I was really happy. In principle it is an excellent proposal and, if carried out as proposed and barring any unforeseen increases in state and local taxes in the meantime, it should start yielding MORE revenue within about two years.

This is something most people do not understand. That is because all they look at is one factor: anticipated revenue from taxes levied. They do not consider the effect of the tax on society, or rather, the effects and causes and effects and causes and effects, etc., down the line on society.

Call your Congressman and tell them you want them to make a public stand in support of Trump's proposal. Then contact all your friends and ask them to do the same. Tell them this will create more and better jobs in every state, including California.

For a delightful romp through tax policies down through history since ancient times, read tax attorney Charles Adams' "For Good and Evil: The Impact of Taxes on the Course of History". It was first published in the 1990's but it is still in print. Buy a case so you can give copies to your family, friends, colleagues, local library, school libraries, and representatives in the seats of government at all levels.

Time to educate, educate, educate!

P.S.: The argument that revenues will fall during the first two years should be countered with the argument that increasing taxes does not increase revenue, but lowering them increases commerce which increases wealth, which yields additional revenue because more people are working and spending more money.

I'm perhaps in the top 3% from an earnings standpoint. I'll be financially hurt by the Trump measure to end the deductibility of state and local taxes on one's federal return.

But I strongly support this reform. The other states that control their spending (and constrain what they pay their "public servants") have long been forced to subsidize spendthrift states and their local governments. It's time to return this burden to those who delve out this largess.

Remember, the lower federal TAX brackets will significantly offset this lost deduction. Only in the high tax states will the net tax be higher -- and generally only for those with greater than $80,000 income.

It should be mentioned that this change will be a dramatic increase in the tax on the wealthy of California -- those people who are both despised most by Democrats and also the Democrats' biggest financial supporters (outside of the labor unions).

Hollywood stars and moguls have already largely relocated their "tax residence" homes to other states -- the incentive for other wealthy people to leave the "Golden State" will become much stronger under this Trump reform.

So be it. Let's rid California of hated rich people -- making ours a true "Workers Paradise."
