I've reached out to the CPUC as well as their consumer advocate about SDG&E rates in general being well outside the realm of reasonable, averaging over 0.33/kWh. I am excited to see some competition in this space, but unhappy about the 'exit fees' we will be charged as a result... SDG&E/Sempra are in good shape either way, as they can cut staff and increase overall profits, even though their bottom-line revenue will decrease.

SDG&E says it welcomes its infrastructure only role. I wonder why? Perhaps it recognizes that as the dispatchable portion of the generating capacity declines and the renewable portion increases, they realize there will be a much greater volatility in wholesale pricing and higher risk of power interruptions. In essence, the risk for purchasing wholesale power and selling it now resides with Clean Power Alliance. With a boat load of mandated solar and wind that won't be an easy task.
