Well said. The academic elites want more African American and Latino students to be enroll and succeed. A laudable goal, but if that doesn’t work then lower the standards for all is the way to go? That is mindless stupidity.
By this process, the value of a diploma from is degraded, the reputation of the institution is tarnished, and the greater society is hurt by it.
If you want students to succeed at the university level,students need to be prepared for it. You cannot lower standards to increase minority numbers and set them up for failure once they arrive on campus unprepared for rigorous academic standards.
And you can’t do it with a teachers union driven grade and high school system ranked 48th in the nation.
