Meg Whitman admitted she hired an illegal alien as a nanny. So, what if Jerry Brown, as attorney general of California, at tonight’s debate arrests her?

What if Jerry walks over and slaps a pair of  handcuffs on Meg?

A lawyer friend of mine writes, “Brown could arrest Meg on TV….and off to the nearest magistrate…..do not pass go, do not collect $200!!!  What a great ratings stunt that would be.  I’d love to see it.”

Meg claims she didn’t know that the nanny was an illegal; that the nanny showed forged papers. But those details could be determined during a trial. No doubt Meg would hire the best lawyers and likely get off. On the other hand, Leona Helmsley and Martha Stewart, although rich, still landed in the hoosegow.

A lot of “law and order” conservatives have been calling for Meg’s arrest on the illegal nanny matter. William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, said:

It’s pretty clear from all parties involved that Whitman did intentionally or unintentionally hire an illegal immigrant for nine years, which is a violation of federal law. To allow Whitman to avoid a trial on this matter would be the same as allowing O.J. Simpson to avoid trial because he said he didn’t do it before he was arrested.

This might be just the way that Jerry Brown gets the votes of such conservatives — and seals his victory in November.
