In reply to Dude McCool. This article is 1.5years old and intentionally misleading, as is almost all anti gun propaganda from the left. A California resident cannot leave with a firearm in hand. It must be shipped from a licensed dealer in NV, who has registered with the CA DOJ, to a licensed dealer within the state CA. If someone buys a gun here and drives back to CA with it they are breaking CA laws and because they aren't in compliance with state law they therefore break a whole slew of federal laws.

I read through the comments and have to say, it’s obvious you haven’t checked into the subject, are purposely deceitful, or didn’t understand what you read. It is absolutely legal for a Californian to buy a rifle in Nevada as long as said rifle is on California’s “legal” roster. You can carry that gun right out of the gun show as well. What you can’t do is toss it in the back of your truck and drive back across the California state line. That will be a violation of California state law. What Californians are doing is buying from Nevada private citizens or dealers and then having the seller ship the weapon to an authorized FFL dealer in California. Once you’ve returned to CA and signed the DROS for the dealer, then you simply wait the 10 days and take delivery.

It’s illegal for a person to buy a gun somewhere else and bring it into California if it is one of the restricted weapons.

It is a Federal offense for a person to do a private sale to someone out of state, but there is no requirement for the person to verify IF the person is from out of state.

This is just a really bad article. You have to prove Nevada residency, otherwise you have to ship the firearm to a FFL in your state and your states laws apply.

Federal Laws still apply. You have to fill out an application and prove Nevada residency. It been like that a really long time, where have you been?
