Congress has a low rating because they fail to represent those that they were elected to serve. And they fail to hold their own accountable. Case in point: James Clapper, federal employee who lied under sworn oath to Congress. No one in Congress presses for accountability. Yet members of Congress (Feinstein, Boxer, etc..) are willing to throw some flunky city mayor under the bus.

This is an example why Congress has a favorability rating in the teens.

And the so-called 2-party system has morphed into a 1-party system and has failed it's people. All checks and balances have been pretty much eliminated.

This is why people have lost faith in Congress.

This is from Steve Mehlman, who is unable to post directly because of technical problems:

Congress has such a low rating because Republicans voting no on everything and filibustering have prevented it from doing its job.

Filner is a disgrace and needs to go. But trying to use this tragedy for political purposes is also disgraceful. Both parties have decent people and both parties have idiots.

If he has been so obnoxious during his 35 years, how did he last in congress? One more reason that the Senate and the House have such a low rating. They accept bad behavior, bordering on illegal, and turn a blind eye. Thanks Nancy!
