Those viewing such movies as 'gasland' (should be renamed 'gasbag')as gospel are easily taken in by such twaddle.
Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson sees "only an upside to hydraulic fracturing," according to the New York Post. Jackson spoke at an energy conference in New Jersey last week to discuss fracking and to address environmental concerns over the controversial process of unearthing natural gas deposits from shale. The Post reports President Barack Obama also believes fracking will lead to job creation and does not mean America will have to choose between protecting our environment and bolstering the economy.

Here are some facts about the New Jersey energy conference and statements from federal EPA officials.

Jackson said fracking is "perfectly capable of being clean" but requires technology innovators to make sure it's done right, according to the Asbury Park Press. Jackson added "smart regulation" is needed.

During a U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing last year, Jackson testified she was not aware of any water contamination case proved to have been caused by fracking. The Asbury Park Press reports EPA groundwater impact investigations are ongoing and a final report is expected by the end of the year.
Sorry. Even ardent liberals concede such.

Fracking poisons the groundwater. Forever.
HOWEVER, in california, in the areas where fracking would be used, the water table is not used, as it it already
ruined by salt water intrusion, natural oil deposits, etc. So why not frack, esp in the LA area?

My legs are like oak trees and my arms are big guns of fury. I led my spin group for years. I do palates, Yoga and am gluten free, vegan and eat mostly paleo. I box, fly fish and read the classics--- All on a very small pension and saving from a life of hard work.

Please leave your skinny arms, flabby arse and flab out in the parking lot boy!

Don't worry. Many Californians in their continuing naivety will hope to ban fracking (now going on for nearly 70 years)just as they now have bogus cap and trade while China alone builds a new coal-fired plant every two weeks. So if they need to buy any products such as big screens, cars, smart phones and so on they will simply and continually be made overseas and shipped on those nice, big tankers from Asia to WalMart for the anti-frackers. For it will be Asian countries and others that will start to employ the new techniques of fracking and horizontal drilling to take energy from the numerous shale deposits all around the world. Even tiny Israel has shale deposits off-shore and will soon be energy exporters as well. Meanwhile, we can build more 17th century energy sources using huge avian Cuisinarts (aka as windmills). Just remember you can build windmills from steel, but you can't make steel using windmills. There are just not enough deserts to build adequate sources of 'green' energy.
Also, the anti-frackers can forgo hot showers, heat in the winter and cooking on those fancy gas stoves next to their sub-zero refrigerators if they truly wish to ban petroleum products in earnest. Lets stop being hypocrites and walk the talk people.
