The Government shutting down in 2013 would be proof enough for tax-payers to realise that most wages have been exhausted through the system "Pay as you go" method. Unemployment insurance was another ripp off. It's really sad how bureaucrats uses the system to exploit working class people. I hope it comes back to all of them and explode in their cheap faces.

Mark Stone runs/ran corruption crime rings. His false red tag scheme in Santa Cruz County to defraud property owners with illegal fees, penalties and fines for bogus violations has snagged thousands of property owners. The slandered title blocks owners from refinancing or selling i.e. no money to pay for lawyers for defense against the corrupt Supervisor/Assemblyman Stone is. A leopard does not change its spots. He also voted in more fees in other areas when the recession started years ago and against protest speeches and factual analysis against such continued insanity. This is bad government. Whatever legislation Stone submits there is either Agenda 21 involved to remove your rights or anti-constitutional directives to remove your rights. He was/is in cahoots with County Counsel, County Administrator, the other 4 Supervisors, Planning Director and Code Enforcement. His ACTIONS speak louder than words. Wake up Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties - Vote for Kain - who stands to right the wrongs! I know what I am talking about - I sued Stone for 4 years and won a huge settlement by a Federal Judge in recently!

Another bad unintended consequence of term limits. This Bozo is trying to make a name for himself to get re-elected to his parasite job. There are already laws and procedures to deal with this kind of problem. It happened to me some years ago. The county DA's office was glad to point the way towards filling out the right forms and submitting them. Back wages paid (after a few months delay). This is a non-problem. Somebody stuff this guy.

Sounds like your ready to move on up to central Oregon, buddy.
The local U-Haul center on route 97 has returned UHaul's rented one way from California lined up
around the block. Many more coming in than leaving.
Everything you cite was an inducement for me to vacate San Diego 2.5 years ago, and I
haven't looked back. I even like winter….A buddy of mine is a contractor in OC and he says he thinks of leaving "100 times a day".

For some reason the legislature attracts kooks who always want to save the little guy while creating economic nightmares for business owners.

It is virtually impossible running a business without breaking some unreasonable law. Also, if you advertise your business to grow your besieged by inspectors, regulators, con artists, unscrupulous employees, parasite insurance agents, chamber of commerce hacks, bushels of junk mail....thousands of emails weekly.

If your brick and mortar your THE TARGET, for all this ilk feel your stuck and you will roll over and succumb to cleaning out of your pockets.

So....you are seeing business flight, liquidation, outsourcing, becoming a mobile service business with few employees, joining the grey market economy, hiding, selling off brick and mortar......

Yep. Business is becoming low margin unless your into vices, tech for the truly young and dumb or your into call centers for TV hustles using all those diversity studies/history/music/political science/communication studies graduates out there (someone has to do it).

Agreed: This is absolutely balls out totally INSANE! All of you who avidly read my musings on labor know that I'm a softy on the minimum wage, but this proposal is cuckoo for coconuts…Right now scammers are looking at California's sky-high property values and DROOLING at the potential of this bill. Guaranteed to further gut the California small and medium business community. Guaranteed to convert Ulysses Uhaul into a bona fide doomer, selling out before this gets signed into law and hitting the road up to cool wet safe and sane OREGON, where there's no sales tax, BTW…..

Current problems. Some shave tail contractors, handymen, ignorant casual laborers want to muddle property records with bogus mechanic liens. They try to extort you with outrageous charges totally unfounded or justified......most people are scared being uninformed on how to defend themselves from these vultures and they need attorneys....so you get reamed no matter what.

My daughter hired a painting contractor. He paid a casual laborer for one day of work....this casual laborer has been harassing and threatening my daughter for three days of unpaid labor for over 18 months....granted he has no claim, but the scenario is unsettling......

This law will be a worse nightmare....mega nightmare. Bogus claims will be flying all over the place....much of it from shake down artists.....whatever...and an attorney costs $350.00 per hour.....figure on 5k a case minimum....and you can have multiple cases during your property ownership. If this passes, so many coming injustices.....like the bogus ADA law suit scams.
