The sad thing is that a really good teacher should be paid a 6 figure income with benefits. After all these are the people that are educating the future workers in our economy. Muni bus drivers in San Francisco on the other hand should not be making six figures but many do with overtime, etc. Many are GED types who drive a bus, not too different than what most of us do everyday for free. If you drive my wife’s brand new Toyota Sienna van ( you know the company now head-quartered in Texas) it is pretty much a small bus and she does not get 6 figures to drive it. In North Carolina where we now live, not too long ago ( up until 1988) the junior and senior high school farm boys drove the school buses. They did a reasonable job, but due to child labor laws they had to stop. These kids started driving around the farm and country when they were 12 years old so by the time they were 16 they had a lot of experience. I don’t think they went on strike for better pay and benefits. If they did Dad would take them behind the wood shed for a whipping! Oh how times have changed.

It’s a cycle…..we went from Transcendentalism to the Great Society in about 130 years.

So…..until someone gets us to buy into Manifest Destiny instead of “The Village”, the current cycle of letting the purposely uninformed, welfare dependent, student loaned/porky professors’ cabal and the government unionized workforces work their redistribution weirs, the cycle will continue.
