TCS, will you ever respond to the topic at hand?
 There are many systems that are better. The system we have is not conducive to justice at any level. Anyone that has tried to fight traffic ticket knows the absurdity of our court system!! :)

The entire state criminal justice system is fixed. Dirty cops, dirty prosecutors and dirty judges. All rigged. While the DP is justified for the worst of the worst, the fact is there is no telling if the trial was fair, or rigged.

Alex Kosinski, Presiding Judge of the 9th, has been on a crusade against this "epidemic" (his words) for the last 5 years, his latest two bench slaps getting major press, including this one form last month where a prosecutor committed perjury in a first degree murder case (BTW this was a DP eligible case)...

Skip the first 17 minutes, go right to the good stuff, the Deputy AG beat down, then a few more minutes in and the REAL good stuff comes, the beat down on AG Harris (Harris caved a week after this);
https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-ts=1422579428&v=2sCUrhgXjH4&feature=player_embedded&x-yt-cl=85114404

And lets not forget our own Laura Duffy in the federal system, a bit long but well worth the time for the beat down at the end ("You have video players in your office don't you? Because this will be on the 9th's website within an hour, and it will be a valuable training tool for your office."...LOL. Duffy tossed in the towel 10 days after this;

There is no way an average citizen can receive justice from a trial on the simple account of how the system is stacked against the accused. The state holds all the cards I.E. state records of every sort can be collated to arrive at any conclusion the state is trying to create, the money that can be spent by the state far exceeds what a citizen can bring to bear in a defense, and actual manpower available to the state, no matter how incompetent, leaves a citizen with little chance for justice.
 I really have no problem putting monsters that murder to death, but the system that picks the ones to die is not good enough in my opinion to receive the power of life or death in a just manner. :)

If assisted suicide becomes legal in Cal., would it apply to prisoners? Probably not, if a death row wretch wanted to end it all, the people fighting for it would argue the prison conditions are poor, and the dirtbag needs poached trout with pinenuts and kiwi relish on side. The self absorbed corrections officer's guild would argue for increased pay.
