Although I dislike new burdens on business, I also dislike coerced “contracts.” My sympathies are with the Democrats and the employees on this one.

The holy grail of the american “job” has assumed ever more importance. The “job” is not only the key to the mall, the “house” in the exurbs, the shiny white Escalade that carries you and your loved ones to Knotts Berry “Farm” on Saturday, where you have so much fun…..The “job” also indentures you to the government: you now work for them. And it is all predicated on the promise of the ‘good life’. Anyhow, as someone who has in the past refused to sign such documents, even walked out of an interview or two when it became clear that the organization and I were not a good match, I SUPPORT this piece of California wakkery. The employer/employee relationship is a partnership, an arms-length equal exchange of labor for compensation. An employer that is abusive should be bled white in the courts. No double standards….
