That's not enough. Not one penny more until we get reform. Here's a few suggestions:
First return the $1 billion dollars in truck fees stolen from the Transportation fund by the D-Rats to prop up the general fund.
Next stop stealing 20% of total gas taxes paid by motorists to shore up mass transit and bike paths who contribute nothing.
Stop spending nearly a third of the contract prices of road construction projects on so called 'environmental' remediation. These include buying off local eco-extortion groups with non-project related funding 'mitigation' measures like so called as open space buyouts. Stop unnecessary requirements like extensive landscaping and irrigation of highways, orange fences, silt fences, straw wattles around everything and way overbuilt, expensive erosion control structures.(apparently God can make mud but man cannot.)
Repeal the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage act and turn over design and construction of our state highways to private firms so we can get bang for our buck instead of the bloated, sclerotic,Caltrans bureaucracy.
Get back to the business of building simple, safe and serviceable roads and give us some value for our gas taxes which are the highest in the country.
