There will never be enough money. The question is, “what is it costing you personally” over the course of a stated period of time–a year perhaps? I have never met up with another commenter who will answer that question for me. CA’s overall taxes are not the highest in the country–I have seen numbers ranging from 12th to 17th. The combined gross income of me and my spouse is whittled down by $30,000 resulting in a state income tax liability that is very low, considering the state’s responsibility for providing services to 39 million inhabitants.

A new report by the Legislative Analyst’s Office prepared the ground for fresh political combat in Sacramento over what to do with California’s budgetary surplus. Although “much of the predicted surpluses” could be skimmed off “for serious emergencies,” the San Francisco Chronicle noted, “there will still be billions left up for grabs or further savings.”

How about giving the surplus back to the beleaguered tax payers, taxpayers who pay the highest tax rates in the country? Bwahhhaaaaaa!

When factor in the unfunded pension liabilities there is no surplus.

Either way, the Demoncrats will spend every penny of that surplus and more and then they will demand more and higher taxes.
