What changes could possibly be made to the design of an ID card that would cost $5M/year?

LOL...this is the gov we're talking about here, the place where toilet seats cost $600 and hammers are $400.

As much as I detest our unregulated and out of control national immigration policy Real ID is a dystopian and fascistic step toward a national ID card. Anyone who values their freedom to travel, their privacy or their right to work should oppose this. I hope enough states will resist this unwarranted attack on state sovereignty to kill the entire process.

Real ID will not make us safe from terrorists nor will it prevent employers from using illegal alien labor. What it will end up doing is give the tyrannical Federal government too much control over the ability of citizens and legal residents to obtain private employment by mutual consent. It will also be used inevitably to control our travel and track our whereabouts. It's just another noxious police state policy imposed on us by the loathsome George W. Bush regime. I wonder how many illegal's that imbecile has working on his ranch?
